HEALTH IMPROVEMENTS

The basic human right to have access to medical care is something we firmly believe in. oftentimes, Health Stations (your local GP/Clinic in the village) in rural communities are very basic, poorly maintained and under resourced. In turn, we partner with communities to reach their development goals by: renovating the existing medical facilities; improving their water & sanitation amenities; and providing much-needed medicine and equipment that will literally save lives.

Additionally, we partner with existing medical institutions including various hospitals to provide much needed resource like play therapy rooms for children spending time in hospital.

PREVENTION

Literally thousands of children, women, and men die each year from preventable health issues and this is unacceptable. We are passionate about providing preventative health and safety training to whole communities by way of facilitating: child and maternal health training; medical personnel capacity building; health facility supplies & infrastructure; first aid training; and water safety training teaching children water-safe practices which will radically reduce the fatality rate in Vietnam, as well as a range of other activities.

OPERATIONS

Many children in Vietnam are born with medical conditions including heart disease; cleft palates and harelips; club feet; and cataracts etc. Without surgery, many of these precious children are destined to very difficult lives not only due to their physical suffering but also because of the socially debilitating effects of their condition, and for the cases of those requiring heart surgery their condition is usually fatal.

We are able to assist these marginalised children and their families by offering financial assistance that will literally change the lives of these treasured ones, improve their quality of life, and give their family a fresh start.

$200 provides a child with a minor operation (cleft palate, harelip, club feet or eye surgery)

$2,000 provides a child with a life-saving heart operation

MOBILITY AID

It is estimated that there are 650 million people around our world today living with a disability of some kind (that is approximately 10%), and over 2 billion family members who are directly impacted by disabilities.

This represents close to a third of the global population, which means that working with people with disabilities, a very marginalised and overlooked group, must be a priority, particularly considering approximately 80% of these precious souls live in developing nations like Vietnam and are statistically poorer than the average person or family in the community. As such, we are passionate about providing both the physical assets needed to help increase the opportunities for interaction within village life, as well as training and income generation opportunities to ensure that people with disabilities are integrated more successfully into the life of their community.

$240 – Custom-made mobility device (e.g. wheelchair, commode aid, pull-up rails etc.)

MEDICAL CLINICS

Given their context and life of poverty, children in rural areas are often in very poor health and a large percentage rank high for malnutrition and other preventable health issues. Consequently, we run Medical Clinics as well as Dental & Eye Checks throughout any given calendar year to identify and treat problems early before they become more serious and long-term issues.

$3,000 provides 500 children in a rural community with a Medical Check including relevant vitamins and medicine to treat identified health problems
